Andrea Dami, a renowned artist and a central figure in Pistoia’s history for over half a century, has passed away. His family, friends, and fellow artists, all of whom have been with him throughout his long and illustrious career, are preparing to bid him farewell. There are some uncertainties regarding further examinations on his body that the hospital will conduct this morning. Afterwards, his body will be prepared for the wake, which will be held at the San Jacopo hospital from 7 am tomorrow until 1 pm the following day. The body will then be transported to the Croce Verde hall in Sant’Agostino for a ceremony at 2,30 pm, where people can pay their respects. Shortly after, the coffin will be taken to the crematorium. A public commemoration of the artist is also being planned by his friends. Today, an auction for the benefit of Dynamo Camp, featuring artworks donated by various artists, including some of Dami’s own works, will take place at the Polo Puccini Gatteschi around 7 pm. Dami, who was 77 years old, was involved in a car accident on September 30th, on his way back from Valdinievole with his wife, who is currently in intensive care. It is believed that Dami lost control of the car due to a sudden heart condition. He passed away shortly after being admitted to the hospital in Pistoia. This tragic event has caused immense grief in all the communities that were touched by Dami as both a person and an artist, and the sorrow shows no signs of diminishing.
