Solo il 25% dei disabili iscritti viene assunto in Toscana, preoccupanti dati secondo la Uil.

In Tuscany, there were only just over 9,000 hires in 2021, compared to over 40,000 registered individuals looking for work. This indicates a dire situation for employment opportunities for disabled individuals in the region, with data significantly lower than the already worrying national figures. The Uil Tuscany highlighted this issue in a report, emphasizing the complete lack of job demand and the violation of the 1999 Law 68. The Uil representative in Siena, Sandro Santinami, expressed concern and suggested that this situation is far from meeting EU standards. Santinami pointed out the positive example set by Mps Bank, which held competitions for disabled individuals within its company structure. The report also highlighted the lack of controls by employment centers and called for the labor inspectorate to review their actions. The Uil Tuscany’s General Secretary, Paolo Fantappiè, emphasized the need for greater protection and employment opportunities for disabled individuals and other protected categories. He criticized employers for their non-compliance and lack of transparency in providing data, suggesting that the sanctions imposed on them are insufficient. Fantappiè further noted the imbalanced distribution of unemployed individuals in Italy, with disabled individuals representing nearly half of the total. This situation clearly indicates a lack of respect for Law 68/99.
