Gigi Vanni, a lifelong fighter against oppression and social injustice, passed away at the age of 75. He was a committed communist and a dedicated family man, always standing up for the common good. Vanni was an iconic figure in the workers’ struggle at the Navale Luigi Orlando Shipyard. He strived for justice and freedom, advocating for the principles of the Communist Party. Despite his visual impairment, he served on the Livorno City Council and was involved in organizing activities for the Union of Italian Blind People. Vanni was also passionate about the sea and boats, and he founded a rowing team in 1978. Following his passing, many friends and colleagues offered their condolences to his family and praised his unwavering principles. Vanni’s body will be displayed at the funeral home outside the Lupi Cemetery before his cremation.
