Formula 1 will not race in Japan over the weekend of 10 October for the Suzuka Grand Prix, due to the difficulties generated by the Covid-19 pandemic. “After long discussions with the organizers and the Japanese authorities, the decision by the government of Japan has been made to cancel the race this season due to the complexities caused by the pandemic in the country,” reads the official Formula 1 statement.
After the cancellation of the appointments in Singapore and Melbourne, the Japanese Grand Prix, initially scheduled for the weekend of 10 October at the Suzuka circuit, is also missing. “Formula 1 is now working on the details of the revised calendar and – explains Liberty media in a statement – will announce the final details in the coming weeks.
