Galdos Rivas, a 90-year-old Peruvian artist, received the “Lorenzo il Magnifico” Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th edition of the Florence Biennale contemporary art and design exhibition. This recognition is just one of many in his 70-year career, during which he has exhibited his works worldwide while maintaining his artistic uniqueness. Galdos Rivas discovered his passion for color while studying at the school of fine arts and decided to focus on painting colors. He aimed to capture the joy expressed through color and created something new by extracting essence from ancient art. Galdos Rivas admires artists like Amedeo Modigliani and believes that every artist, even if not a genius, should believe in what they create. When asked how he would like to be remembered in a hundred years, he humbly expresses his desire to be recognized as one of the top 300 painters in the world. The 14th edition of the biennial brought together over 600 artists from 84 countries across all five continents.
