Susanna Camerini, a 25-year-old girl from Florence who recently moved to Israel, received a call from the army while on vacation and was told she had to mobilize due to an attack by Hamas. Despite her fear, she decided to do her part and join as a reservist. She and her husband, who also received the call, stayed in Tel Aviv for a few days before returning to their home near Gaza to gather their equipment. Susanna is tasked with blocking roads to keep civilians out of dangerous areas and protect them. She has friends who were caught in the violence and hopes to see them again soon. Her husband went to the northern border with Lebanon to rescue people trapped under debris. Susanna’s parents and sister are in Italy and they are in constant communication. She dreams of continuing her criminology studies and starting a family in the future. Before she left, she asked her husband to write to her every hour and not to play the hero.
