Progetto Viva Vittoria, 3000 coperte in piazza Santa Croce per contrastare la violenza sulle donne.

Piazza Santa Croce in Florence will be covered in over three thousand knitted and crocheted blankets on November 11th and 12th as part of the “Viva Vittoria” project against violence towards women. The event was presented in Palazzo Vecchio by Maria Federica Giuliani and Sara Funaro, both assessors. The initiative is organized by Ailo Onlus and Viva Vittoria Odv, and has already taken place in thirty different squares in Italy and abroad. The event is supported by the City and Metropolitan of Florence, as well as the Tuscany Region. The installation aims to raise awareness about the strength and resilience of women and has garnered support from various institutions, organizations, schools, and individuals. The blankets have been made collaboratively and represent the community’s rejection of violence against women. The event brings together different realities in the region and aims to create a sense of unity. The blankets, measuring 50×50 cm, have been contributed by people of all ages and backgrounds from across Italy and even from abroad. The installation will begin at 5 am on November 11th, when plastic sheets will be laid in Piazza Santa Croce. At 6 am, a human chain will form from Via San Giuseppe to the square, and at 9 am, the event will officially begin. Visitors will have the opportunity to choose a blanket in exchange for a minimum donation of 20 euros.
