Susan Sarandon, the American Oscar-winning actress, and Isabelle Huppert, the French actress, will be the guests of honor at the 19th edition of the Lucca Film Festival 2023. The festival, held from September 23 to October 1, is one of the main cultural events in Italy and is chaired by Nicola Borrelli. The event is made possible thanks to the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation and the Municipality of Lucca. Other guests include Violante Placido, Gabriele Salvatores, Kim Rossi Stuart, Stefania Sandrelli, Mario Martone, Laetitia Ky, and Robert Cahen. Stefania Sandrelli, originally from Viareggio, will open the festival with a public masterclass and will receive the Outstanding Woman in Film Award. She will also receive the Career Award and the Honorary Award from the Giacomo Puccini Foundation. Two of her films, “Acqua e Anice” and “Io la conoscevo bene,” will be screened at the festival. Sandrelli has had a unique career, appearing in over 100 films and receiving numerous awards, including three David di Donatello Awards and six Nastri d’Argento. She made her debut at the age of 15 and gained fame working with directors such as Pietro Germi and Bernardo Bertolucci. She has also had a successful television career.
