86enne Angelo Marino ottiene seconda laurea all’Università di Siena.

Angelo Marino, a 1937-born student, has graduated from the University of Siena today with a thesis titled “My Country 1937-1950” in the Literature degree program. The discussion of his research took place this morning at the chapel of the San Niccolò seat, where the department of Philology and Criticism of Ancient and Modern Literature conducts its activities. Marino’s face showed only a hint of emotion during the proclamation, while his family members were visibly moved, having supported him throughout his studies to achieve his second academic milestone. In 1962, Marino had already obtained a degree in Law with a thesis on fraud-related activities, and subsequently worked as a municipal secretary in several towns in different regions, including Montalcino, Sinalunga, and Cortona, before culminating his career as the Secretary General of the Province of Siena. After Marino presented his thesis, Professor Marco Valenti, the commission’s president, read the proclamation in the presence of Professors Pierluigi Piellini and Niccolò Scaffai, the thesis supervisor and co-supervisor. Rector Roberto Di Pietra made a surprise appearance to personally congratulate Marino, whose daughters are university employees. The family members, as well as the commission members, then gathered around Marino in a joyful embrace.
