San Giuliano Terme, Gattare in protesta, il giornale online di Pisa riporta i dettagli.

Vent people, responsible for cat colonies and committed animal activists, have signed and sent a long document to Mayor Di Maio and Councilor Paolicchi regarding the disastrous situation of the cat colonies in the Municipality. According to the responsible individuals, the Regional Law 59 on Animal Protection seems to be ignored in San Giuliano, especially when it comes to cats. The Municipality does not provide food or take care of the sterilization and health problems of the colonies, while the Animal Protection Office has been inactive for over a year. None of the promises made (food, assistance with veterinary expenses, help with capturing) has been kept. Only the cat caretakers and some animal activists have been feeding, caring for, and sterilizing dozens of cats at their own expense, without any support from the municipality. The disappeared colonies, which were previously documented and acknowledged by municipal officials, have caused concern. The cat caretakers and animal activists demand clarification from Councilor Paolicchi about her plans to implement the Regional Law on Animal Protection and the resources allocated for the cat colonies. They remind her that actions are needed instead of empty words. Lastly, they mention that the Mayor is legally responsible for the cat colonies and they reserve the right to take action against him if necessary.
