Michela Agostini, a teacher from Sarteano, won first place in the adult section of the “FantasticHandicap” National Literary Contest organized by the Handicap Documentation Center of Carrara. The awards ceremony took place at the Marina di Carrara Conference Room. The winning story, titled “The Miracle of the Invisible,” focused on disability and diversity. In total, 133 entries were submitted for the adult section, and the jury included individuals sensitive to the topic of disability as well as representatives from the world of culture, literature, and journalism. Agostini donated a portion of her prize money to the Autism Siena-Piccolo Principe APS Association and dedicated her victory to all the students she has had the pleasure of teaching over the years. Agostini has previously won a scholarship related to writing from the Lions Club of Chianciano Terme in 2011. She graduated from the Socio-Pedagogical High School in Montepulciano and continued her studies at the University of Siena, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities Studies and a Master’s degree in History and Philosophy. Agostini has always been passionate about teaching and writing, and her love for writing began in primary school. She was motivated by her teachers to express her opinions with respect and courtesy, and her university studies and involvement in music have influenced her winning story. Agostini has been playing the clarinet since primary school and currently plays with the “Arturo Toscanini” Municipal Band. Her winning story delicately explores the power of friendship and the connection between different personalities and worlds through the language of music. Agostini still has many writing-related dreams and goals she hopes to achieve in the future.
