Florence Nightingale, born in 1820 in Florence, Italy, was a key figure in modern nursing. She revolutionized the field by focusing on education, organization, hygiene, hospital infrastructure, home care, and the dignity of the nursing profession. Her story will be featured in a theatre performance called “Conversazione (in)credibile con Florence Nightingale,” organized by the University of Florence as part of their “Su il sipario! La medicina in scena!” series. The event aims to highlight the humanistic side of medicine and health care. The show will take place on October 30th, and is open to the public, with free admission upon reservation. The initiative is supported by the Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine, Fondazione Careggi, Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria Careggi, and other organizations. Prior to the performance, a contest will award students who reinterpreted Molière’s “Le Malade imaginaire” from a modern perspective. This initiative is part of Unifi Extra 2023, a program aimed at engaging with the community for social, cultural, and economic development.
