Collaborazione tra cattedrali di Firenze e Parigi prosegue.
Philippe Villeneuve, the Architecte en Chef responsible for the reconstruction of the Notre Dame Cathedral, visited Florence as part of an ongoing collaboration between the Opera of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Notre Dame project. Accompanied by Professor Carlo Blasi and technicians from the Opera, Villeneuve toured the structures of the Cathedral, the restoration site of the Baptistry’s dome mosaics, and the Opera del Duomo Museum. Villeneuve, an expert in Florentine architecture, was particularly interested in the museum as his team is currently searching for solutions to reunite and protect the damaged artworks and stone decorations of Notre Dame, which have been replaced with replicas. This visit is part of an exchange and deepening of experiences between two of the most important Gothic cathedrals in the world, following the devastating Notre Dame fire in 2019. Two technical meetings have already been held in Florence in September 2019 and in Paris in July of this year.
