Matteo Cappelli, also known as Anna, has been elected as the new prince of the Goliardi senesi for the 2024 student season. He is studying Communications Sciences and is a member of the Giraffa contrada. Cappelli expresses his honor and responsibility in representing one of Siena’s oldest institutions and acknowledges the importance of keeping traditions alive. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the number of new members joining the Goliardi has been increasing, reaching 70 for 2024, a number not seen in many years. Cappelli is proud that there are many Giraffa students participating in the Feriae Matricularum. The uniqueness of the 2024 Princeps is the presence of a third-year student in the Balia, a role traditionally filled by fourth-year students. Cappelli has chosen Marco Muzzi, also known as Fatima, as the perfect candidate for this role. The Princeps and his Goliardi are already planning and structuring the May theatrical performance. They are eager to showcase their strength and readiness, warning Siena to be prepared for the Goliardi’s energetic presence.
