Buy Food Toscana is set to take place on October 26th and 27th at Palazzo degli Affari in Florence. Over 68 certified producers of DOP, IGP, Agriqualità, Mountain Products, Organic, and PAT will meet with more than 50 buyers from around the world to make commercial agreements. Additionally, a round table discussion titled “DOP and IGP of Tuscany, Sustainability from Origin to Table” will be held on October 27th. The discussion will feature Fabio del Bravo from ISMEA, who will present a comprehensive report on the economy of Tuscany’s IG products. Notable attendees include regional president Eugenio Giani, vice-president and agriculture councilor Stefania Saccardi, and representatives from agricultural organizations. Following the pandemic, the European and North American markets are still strong, with growing interest from the Far East. The global market trends are constantly evolving and seeking innovative and high-quality products tied to local traditions. Tuscany is the leading region in terms of IG recognition, with 90 food and wine products and over 17,000 operators in the food and wine sector. The region’s production value amounts to approximately 1.4 billion euros, including 178 million euros exclusively in the food sector. Tuscany is also the top region in terms of IG olive oil production, with a value of 29 million euros. B2B meetings are organized through a thorough profiling process carried out by PromoFirenze. The online catalog features 304 products from 17 DOP and IGP denominations, with 102 organic products from 25 producers and 66 PAT products from 13 producers. The matchmaking process helps facilitate successful negotiations between producers and buyers. Previous editions of the event have resulted in a high rate of continuation and successful agreements. Buyers will also have the opportunity to visit participating companies to deepen their knowledge of products and territories, thanks to the support from the Florence and Northwest Tuscany Chamber of Commerce.
