When asked about being at the event, Urasawa expressed his happiness and stated that it was a special occasion for him as 20th Century Boys was celebrating its 40th anniversary. He also praised the city of Lucca, saying that it was a fantastic place that he found captivating. Urasawa mentioned that he would consider using Lucca as a setting for future works if he needed to portray an Italian or European location. The mangaka revealed that he started drawing at a young age and has not changed his style significantly since then. He cited La Fenice as the work that had the most impact on his career, as it confirmed his path in manga. Urasawa mentioned that his favorite author for the past 20 years has been Stephen King, while Kurosawa, the Coen brothers, Wenders, and Bogdanovic are the filmmakers who inspire him. Urasawa explained that he likes to create characters with predetermined storylines, starting from the ending and building the narrative around it. He seeks inspiration from everyday life, recalling a time when he struggled to draw an elderly character but found the perfect face while waiting in line at a supermarket. While Urasawa doesn’t have specific plans for future works at the moment, he expressed a desire to continue telling stories in his own unique way, leaving an impact on readers. He also mentioned that he would likely avoid remakes after his experience with Pluto.
